Men's Basketball Suffers Loss Against Centre

BEREA, KY. - Berea College loses at home by a score of 68-62 to Centre College. 

Four minutes into the game, Bryce Riley scores on a layup. After that Trey Minter sinks two three pointers and a driving layup to push Berea ahead by a score 10-5. Centre closes the gap and ties the score at 13, before taking an almost commanding lead at 19-13. A Mountaineer timeout gets things back in order as Berea pulls ahead by a score of 20-19. With the half ending, Kevion Hudson powers through the paint and scores on a layup before Centre comes back and drills a deep three pointer. The half ends with a score of 27-25, Berea trailing. 

Trey Minter starts the second half with a pull up jumper to cut into Centre's lead. After a couple of missed shots, Ja'Rel Montgomery stops the cold streak by scoring two free throws. Andrew Jones subs in and makes a three-point basket to extend Berea's lead to 41-38 with 12:41 remaining in the second half. After Minter hits a three-pointer with 11:04 left to tie the game at 44 all, Centre slowly but steadily pulled away, never letting Berea get closer than two points. 

With the night over, stat leaders included Trey Minter, who made 5 three-point baskets help lead to a thirty-point performance. Bryce Riley had 9 rebounds and 1 block. Ja'rel Montgomery managed 4 assist. Montgomery and Riley shared three steals. Berea averaged a 33.8% shooting percentage and went 8-29 in three-point attempts. 

Berea will travel to Bellarmine to take on the Knights at 11am on Thursday.
