Men's Basketball Defeats Huntingdon for Sixth Road Win

HUNTINGDON, Ala. – The Berea College men's basketball team secured their fourth conference win of the season, defeating Huntingdon College 74-68 on Friday night.

The win against the Hawks this weekend will push the Mountaineers to 12-9 on the season and currently sit at .500 in conference play. Berea also improves to 6-3 in road games this season.
The Mountaineers were led by senior guard Isaac Caudill who had 26 points and five rebounds. Sophomore guard Trey Minter added 20 points and five rebounds, while sophomore guard Marquis Mackey added 12 points and five boards as well.

Caudill started off the Mountaineers strong during the first half with 15 points. Even though Berea shot poorly from beyond the arc in the first half (one-for-10) the contest was tight as the Mountaineers trailed by just two points going into halftime.

The second half was a different script for the Mountaineers as they hit four of their nine attempts from the three-point line. Caudill and Minter each scored 11 second-half points for Berea, while Mackey and sophomore Jarel Montgomery added eight and five points, respectively.

The contest came down to the last two minutes as the Hawks knocked down a pair of free throws the tie the game at 68-68 with 2:05 remaining. Caudill connected a pass to Mackey for a three-pointer to put Berea ahead 71-68 with 1:48 left. Huntingdon attempted to hit a quick three to tie the contest, but missed and Caudill corralled the board. The Mountaineers eventually took care of business late as Caudill converted a pair of free throws and Berea came away with a 74-68 win.

The Berea College men's basketball team returns to action next Friday, traveling to face LaGrange College. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
