KNOXVILLE, Tn. - The Berea College men's soccer team scored a late second-half goal to tie Johnson University 1-1 Wednesday evening in Knoxville. 

Neither team could get much going offensively on the rain-soaked field until Johnson's Paul Pifer netted a goal just before the half.  The Mountaineers finally got on the scoreboard near the 70:00 mark with a goal by Alexis Vargas off a pass by Zakaria Shendera.  Berea keeper Eris Acosta held the Royals in check for the rest of the contest, earning the 1-1 tie. 

The Mountaineers are back on the road this weekend, facing Piedmont University Saturday in Demorest, Georgia.
