Berea, KY- In a thrilling conference match women's basketball team secured a notable victory, defeating Covenant College with a final score of 63-50. This victory marks the first conference win for the Mountaineers.
Kayla McClendon showcased her marksmanship from beyond the arc, landing 3 out of 4 three-point attempts, contributing to her impressive 15-point performance for the Mountaineers. Meanwhile, LynKaylah James put on another stellar display, achieving a double-double with 16 points and an outstanding 14 rebounds. Dailyn Spalding also delivered a commendable performance, securing 11 rebounds and adding 9 points to the Mountaineers' tally, while also demonstrating her efficiency at the free-throw line with a strong 5-6 record. The Mountaineers made 17 out of 27 attempts (63%) from the free throw line.
The first half of the game saw Berea taking a commanding lead of 34-14 over Covenant, setting the stage for their eventual 13-point victory. Additionally, the Mountaineers' bench contributed significantly, chipping in a remarkable 27 points.
Women's Basketball is back in action Wednesday, January 3rd at home against Wesleyan College. Tip off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
