MARYVILLE, TN - On Tuesday evening, the Mountaineers faced off against the Maryville Scots at 6 PM in Maryville, Tennessee. The Mountaineers started strong, winning the first set 25-18. However, the Scots made a successful transition, winning the next set 25-20, followed by a closely contested third set at 26-24, and ultimately the final set 25-18. This resulted in a 3-1 victory for the Scots.



Despite the defeat, there were notable performances from the Mountaineers. Idymel Ayala Rivera recorded 26 assists, Brianna Negron Torres contributed 11 assists, and Alexis McCullough added 2 assists. In terms of defensive efforts, Deanna De La Torre led with 16 digs, followed by Amelie Cora with 14 and Alexis McCullough with 11. Offensively, Alexis McCullough also excelled with 18 kills, supported by Deanna De La Torre with 16 kills and Nashaliz Garcia with 4 kills.

The Mountaineers will compete next against Covenant College on October 3rd, 2024, at 7:30 PM in Wilmore, Kentucky.
