BEREA, KY - On Sunday afternoon, the Mountaineers hosted Columbia College in a competitive matchup. The Mountaineers got off to a strong start, with
Sara Knight scoring a goal 35 minutes into the first half, putting them ahead 1-0. However, the Koalas responded quickly, netting two back-to-back goals within five minutes and adding another just before halftime, leading to a 3-1 score at the break.
Despite a valiant effort, including a total of 9 saves by the Berea defense compared to only 1 for Columbia, the Mountaineers conceded two additional goals in the second half, resulting in a 5-1 loss. Berea managed 6 shot attempts throughout the game, while Columbia tallied 25.
There were no yellow or red cards issued to either team during the match. The Mountaineers are encouraged to continue pushing forward and focus on their next opportunity.
