WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS 66-58 TO WILMINGTON COLLEGE
WILMINGTON, OH – The Berea College women's basketball team demonstrated resilience but ultimately fell short in their third game of the season, losing to Wilmington College 66-58 at Hermann Court.
The Mountaineers started the game evenly, finishing the first quarter tied at 13. LynKaylah James led the team with a near double-double, contributing 10 points and 9 rebounds. Drea Satori delivered a solid performance, adding 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Atyia Moss contributed with 10 points, including two three-pointers, while Jayden Merriweather chipped in with 8 points and 2 steals.
Wilmington took control in the second quarter, outscoring Berea 13-9 to secure a 26-22 lead at halftime. A dominant third quarter from Wilmington (23-16) widened the gap, making it difficult for the Mountaineers to recover. Despite a determined effort in the fourth quarter, where they outscored Wilmington 20-17, the deficit proved too significant to overcome. Berea excelled with 11 points off turnovers and scored 34 points in the paint, but struggled with consistency, shooting just 31.7% from the field and 45.5% from the free-throw line.
