ATLANTA, Ga. (February 5, 2024) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its Women's Basketball Players of the Week.
LynKaylah James (Berea) was named
Player of the Week, while
Destiny Grider (Wesleyan) earned
Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – LynKaylah James, Berea
Forward | Sophomore | Bowling Green, Ky.
James led the Mountaineers to a 3-0 week with wins over conference opponents: Covenant, Huntingdon, and LaGrange. The sophomore forward averaged 22 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. James posted two double-doubles against Covenant (22 points, 11 rebounds) and LaGrange (25 points, 16 rebounds). She led the team in scoring with 19 points, seven rebounds, a pair of blocks and assists, and one steal in a win over Huntingdon.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK– Destiny Grider, Wesleyan
Guard | Freshman | Hinesville, Ga.
Grider averaged 15.5 points in two conference contests this week. In a win over Covenant, the Georgia native added 14 points, six rebounds, four steals, and an assist to seal the victory.
