Berea, KY – Berea puts up a hard fight but falls behind to Centre at home on Tuesday night.
Final Score: Centre - 17, Berea – 5
After a scoreless 1st inning of play, Centre scored eight runs in the top of the 2nd inning. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Berea answered back by scoring two runs.
Peter Torbicki and
Justin Brown both scored off an RBI-Single by
Nick McLaughlin. Following that, in the bottom of the 3rd inning,
Fredison Rivera crossed home plate to reduce Centre's lead. In the bottom of the 4th inning,
Peter Torbicki scored on an RBI-Single from
Michael Vazquez. After four innings of play the score was Centre 8, Berea 4.
In the top of the 5th inning, Centre scored one more run, increasing their lead. Then in the top of the 6th inning, Centre scored another run to make the score 10-4. In the top of the 7th inning, Centre scored four more runs to increase their lead even more. In the bottom of the 7th inning, the Mountaineers scored a run as well.
Fredison Rivera scored off an RBI hit from Jay Junta. Following that, Centre proceeded to score three runs in the top of the 8th inning, to end the game. The final score being Centre 17, Berea 5.
The Mountaineers will be back in action this weekend with a three-game series against Manchester University at home, here at the Berea College Sports Complex. On Saturday, March 16th, the first game of the series will take place, with the opening pitch expected to be thrown at 1P.M.
