MARYVILLE, TN- Berea Track and Field Travel to Tennessee to get a feel for their conference competition.
The men's 100m dash saw
Calib Collier-Smith get through finals with a time of (11.27).
Narquise Sneed just missed making finals with a time of (11.78) in the preliminary round. For the women,
Angel Patterson saw a slight improvement from prelims to finals, dropping a (13.84) in the finals, 0.06 faster than her prelim time. In the 200m
Christoff Mendy and
Larry Branch both dropped solid times of (22.79) and (23.16). Both placed behind Collier-Smith who placed fourth overall with a (22.67). For the women's 400m dash, 800m specialist
Peyton Potts and
Muhorakeye Joyeuse both ran under one minute and five seconds.
Mendy led off and even won the men's 400m heat with a (49.67).
Jaleesa Herman returns to competition with a 100mh performance of (16.79), good enough for second overall.Â
In the field events, the men's high jump saw
DeMarcus Smith jump (1.65m), good enough for fourth overall.
Angel Patterson and Ashley Bailey both competed in the pole vault and placed 2nd and 3rd overall with finishing heights of (2.60m). In shot put, senior females
Elise Kemp,
Alyssa Bell, and
Kyonna Ross all placed top 20 with Kemp leading with a throw of (9.21m), Bell with a (8.81m) throw and Ross with a (8.48m) throw. Kemp also placed 9th in discus with a mark of (25.61m) while Bell placed second in javelin with a effort of (25.68m). On the men's side, senior
Kenguruka Promesse placed 12 with a throw of (9.29m).Â
Next week, the track and field team will fight against division one competition in the Jim Green Invitational at the University of Kentucky.Â
