WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WEEK 1 RECAP

Berea Women's Basketball Opens Season at Rhodes Classic

Game 1: Berea vs. Hardin-Simmons University (52–73)
Location: Memphis, TN — November 8
The Berea College Women's Basketball team tipped off their 2025–26 season at the Rhodes Classic, where they faced Hardin-Simmons University in their opening matchup. Despite a competitive start, the Mountaineers fell 52–73. LynKaylah James had a standout performance, recording a dominant double-double with 22 rebounds and 16 points. She was supported by Payton Bugg, who added 12 points and 7 rebounds. Madison Howell contributed 5 points and 4 rebounds, and Arianna Sutton chipped in with 8 points and 2 rebounds in her debut.
 

Game 2: Berea vs. East Texas Baptist University (50–63)
Location: Memphis, TN — November 9
In their second game of the weekend, the Mountaineers took on East Texas Baptist University, falling 50–63. Bugg led the team offensively with 17 points, while James continued her solid start to the season with another double-double—12 points and 10 rebounds. Bates added 6 points, Moss contributed 5 points and 3 rebounds, and newcomer Sweeney scored 8 points off the bench.
