MEN'S BASKETBALL WEEK 2 RECAP

Berea Men's Basketball Bounces Back on Homecoming Night

Game 1: Berea at Maryville College (73–81)
Location: Maryville, TN — November 18
The Berea College men's basketball team returned to action this past Thursday, facing off against nationally ranked Maryville College, a top-25 program. The Mountaineers came out strong, holding a 45–37 lead at halftime. However, Maryville rallied in the second half to force overtime, where they ultimately pulled away for an 81–73 victory. Bryce Riley paced the Mountaineers with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Zavian Douglass contributed 12 points and 4 boards, while Jae'dyn Gist and Jaylen Black each added 11 points. Zach Hudson also delivered a solid performance with 10 points and 5 rebounds.

Game 2: Berea vs. Warren Wilson (79–62)
Location: Berea, KY — November 20
Following a hard-fought battle at Maryville, the Mountaineers returned home for Homecoming Weekend to take on Warren Wilson College. The team came out firing, building a commanding 40–19 lead by halftime. The momentum continued after the break, as the Mountaineers maintained control and secured a convincing 79–62 victory, evening their season record at 2–2. All 21 Mountaineers saw the floor during the win, with senior Bryce Riley surpassing the significant milestone of 1,000 career points.

Riley once again led the charge with 19 points. Three Mountaineers—Zavian Douglass, Andrew Jones, and Nate Barrow—each added 10 points, while senior Anthony Hamm contributed 8. The Mountaineers are back in action this Sunday at Sewanee and will return home on December 3rd to face conference opponent Hanover College.
