WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WEEK 14 RECAP

MOUNTAINEERS ACHIEVE TWO STRONG WINS IN WEEK 14

Game 1: Mounties Overtake Earlham Quakers in 81-46 Victory
Location: Berea, KY
The Mountaineers had quite the night against Earlham College this past Wednesday. They opened strong, outscoring the Quakers 16-10 in the first quarter and extending their lead to 35-28 by halftime. After a brief intermission, Berea dominated the third quarter, scoring an impressive 33 points while holding Earlham to just 3 points. Although the Quakers managed to finish the fourth quarter with a 15-13 edge, it was not enough to change the outcome, with the Mountaineers securing a decisive victory at 81-46.

Jayden Merriweather led the team with 22 points and 7 rebounds, while LynKaylah James contributed 20 points and 5 rebounds. Drea Satori made her mark with 14 points and 3 rebounds. Notably, the Mountaineers shot 100% from the free-throw line in the second, third, and fourth quarters.

Game 2: Mountaineers Secure 54-52 Senior Night Win Over Anderson Ravens
Location: Berea, KY
On Saturday, the Mountaineers hosted their Senior Night against Anderson University. They started strong, leading 21-13 at the end of the first quarter, and maintained the advantage at halftime, finishing the second quarter 14-12. However, Anderson made a push in the second half, taking the third quarter 15-14 and the fourth quarter 12-5. Despite this, the Mountaineers held on to win 54-52.

Senior Dailyn Spalding played a pivotal role, scoring 13 points and grabbing 4 rebounds while playing 37 minutes. LynKaylah James added 9 points and an impressive 13 rebounds, and Drea Satori contributed with 8 points and 5 rebounds.
