SOFTBALL WEEK 3 RECAP

Game 1: Grace Christian Clutches 7-6 Victory Over the Mountaineers
Location: Berea, KY

The Mountaineers took on Grace Christian University in a thrilling first game of the day, kicking off at 4 PM. Grace Christian came out strong, scoring 3 runs in the top of the first inning, while Berea was held scoreless. Both teams battled through a quiet second inning, with no runs scored by either side.

The Mountaineers found their rhythm in the third inning, answering back with 4 runs to take a 4-3 lead. After a scoreless fourth and fifth innings, Grace Christian surged in the top of the sixth, putting up 4 runs. Berea answered with 1 run at the bottom of the sixth, bringing the score to 7-5.

In the final inning, the Mountaineers scored 1 more run but couldn't get past Grace Christian, falling 7-6. Tiffany Deel, Maggie Dickson, and Mia Thomas were key contributors for Berea, each scoring a run in the tight contest.

Game 2: Mountaineers Fall to Grace Christian 10-6
Location: Berea, KY

In the second game of the day, Berea faced off against Grace Christian once again, this time at 6 PM. The Mountaineers took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but Grace Christian quickly responded, scoring 5 runs in the second inning. Both teams were held scoreless in the third and fourth innings, before Grace Christian added 2 more runs in the fifth.

The Mountaineers showed resilience in the bottom of the sixth, scoring 4 runs to narrow the gap to 7-6. However, Grace Christian answered back in the top of the seventh, putting up 3 runs and sealing the 10-6 win as Berea was unable to score in their final turn at bat.

Jessya Searcy provided a spark for Berea with a home run, while Maya Meads contributed 2 runs. Maggie Dickson, Deanna Crawford, and Mia Thomas each scored 1 run as the Mountaineers kept fighting until the final out.

Summary:
The Mountaineers faced two tough losses on Friday, falling 7-6 in Game 1 and 10-6 in Game 2. Despite the setbacks, Berea showed strong performances from several players throughout the day.
