Berea vs. Rose-Hulman (03/25)
Location: Terre Haute, IN
Game 1:
Berea narrowly missed an upset with a 4-3 loss in a heartbreaker against Rose-Hulman to open Tuesday's doubleheader. Peter Torbicki sparked the offense with a triple and a run scored, while Ricardo Serra brought home two runs with sacrifice flies. Tyler Palmgren pinch-hit a single in the ninth and quickly scored the go-ahead run, briefly giving Berea a 3-2 lead. On the mound, Sean Blackwell pitched six strong innings, allowing just one earned run on nine hits, with Gabriel Martinez shutting out the Engineers over the final two frames. Rose-Hulman rallied in the ninth, scoring two runs off Noah Madrid to walk off with the win. Fredison Rivera went 1-for-4 with a stolen base, and Marcelo Manrique and Torbicki also contributed singles, despite facing a 13-hit effort from the Engineers.

Game 2:
In the second game, Berea struggled to contain Rose-Hulman's offense, falling 11-1. The Mountaineers managed five hits, with Santiago Ramos going 1-for-3 and scoring the only run in the eighth inning. Torbicki drove in the lone run with a fielder's choice. Rivera, Manrique, Jalen Brown, and Aiden Daily added hits, but the team couldn't mount enough offense to match Rose-Hulman's steady scoring, especially as the Engineers put up four runs in the second inning. Starter Jake Junta took the loss, allowing four earned runs in five innings. Nick Madrid and Elias Rivera followed in relief, but couldn't slow the opponent's bats.
The Mountaineers will next face Earlham College at home on March 28 at 6:30 PM.
