MADISON STONESTREET COLLECTS HCAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Cross Country teams competed in week three of the 2025 season.

Athletes of the Week: 
Men's Athlete of the Week:
William Hirsch (Evansville, Ind.) Franklin College | Sophomore - At the Hanover Invitational on Saturday, Hirsch took home the individual title with a time of 20:03, winning the race by 17 seconds and 42 seconds better than he ran on the same course a year ago. Hirsch also led the Grizzly Men to the team title, distancing runner-up Thomas More by 27 points (31-58).

Women's Athlete of the Week:
Madison Stonestreet (West Milford, W.V.) Berea College | Senior - Berea's Madison Stonestreet dominated the Mike & Mary Kay Johnson Classic to win the individual title in a time of 19:09.4. The Mountaineers took the runner-up title with a score of 49 points.

Notable Performances:
Men's:
  • Taiki Ogawa (Scappoose, Ore.) Berea College | Sophomore - Taiki Ogawa led the Mountaineers to a 3rd-place team finish while setting a course personal best. Ogawa ran 28:40 in the men's 8k to take 3rd place overall. This time is 2 mine course improvement from his previous best.
  • Conner Watson (Greenwood, Ind.) Hanover College | Senior - Conner finished 6th overall in the Hanover Invitational on Saturday. His time was a 12 second improvement over his previous best effort on the Hanover 6k course.
Women's:
  • Callie Swegman (Columbus, Ind.) Hanover College | Senior - Callie finished 4th overall in the Hanover Invitational on Saturday with a 37 second improvement over her previous best time on the Hanover course.
  • Libby Perkins (Louisville, Ky.) Transylvania University | Senior - Libby opened up her season with arguably the best xc race of her career thus far, earning 14th at the Hanover XC Invitational. Libby ran 21:36.7 over the 3.2mi course.
