Game: Berea Draws with Brevard 1-1:Â
On September 20th, the mens soccer team hosted their first home game at the Berea Sports Complex and ended in a 1-1 draw against the Brevard College Tornadoes. After a scoreless first half, Berea broke through in the 83rd minute when defender Peter Mensah scored to give the Mountaineers a late lead. Brevard quickly answered just 22 seconds later after a corner kick from Berea College to equal the score. Berea generated 14 shots (two on goal) and created pressure with seven corner kicks. Mensah's goal highlighted the offense, while midfielder Ombeni Shandera added two shots, including one in the frame. In net, Eris Acosta recorded four saves on 11 shots faced to anchor the defense. The match was physical, featuring 23 total fouls and yellow cards for Berea's Ali Ferguson and Brevard's Leonardo Zabeu. Berea will next travel to Maryville, Tennessee, to face Maryville College on Wednesday.Â
