MEN'S BASKETBALL WEEK 7 RECAP

Mountaineers Face Tough Competition at Lee's Famous Recipe Classic and Conference Play

Game 1: Mountaineers Face Wabash College at Lee's Famous Recipe Classic

The men's team returned to action over the break at the Lee's Famous Recipe Classic, hosted by Centre College, where they faced non-conference opponent Wabash College. The Mountaineers struggled to find their rhythm early, trailing by 25 points at halftime. The second half told a different story, as the team outscored Wabash by 10 points, but the late surge was not enough to overcome the deficit, resulting in an 82–67 loss.

Jae'dyn Gist led the Mountaineers with 14 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Zavian Douglass followed closely with 13 points and seven rebounds. Additional key contributors included Nate Barrow with 10 points and Zach Hudson, who added eight points and five rebounds.

Game 2: Dominant Performance by Mountaineers Against Thomas College

The Mountaineers returned to action the following day for Game 2 of the Lee's Famous Recipe Classic, taking on Thomas College. They came out strong and never relinquished control, building a commanding 44–27 lead at halftime. That momentum carried into the second half, as the Mountaineers continued to pull away en route to an 83–56 victory.

Junior Jae'dyn Gist led the way with an outstanding performance, recording 22 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Bryce Riley added 17 points and eight rebounds, while freshman Zach Hudson contributed 11 points and seven rebounds. The win marked the Mountaineers' final non-conference game of the season.

Game 3: Mountaineers Struggle in Conference Play Against Rose-Hulman

The Mountaineers returned to conference play as they traveled to Terre Haute, Indiana, to take on Rose-Hulman. From the opening tip, they struggled defensively to generate stops, resulting in a 26-point deficit at halftime. The second half was more competitive and featured back-and-forth play, but the Mountaineers were unable to overcome the challenging first half, ultimately falling to the Engineers, 96–64.

Freshman Zach Hudson led the Mountaineers with a team-high 22 points. Jae'dyn Gist followed with eight points and six rebounds, while junior Jack Ngogg added seven points off the bench.

The Mountaineers return to action on Wednesday as they travel back to Indiana to face Earlham, before returning home on Saturday for a doubleheader against Manchester.
