Men's T&F Competes at Centre Indoor Invitational & Multis Danville, KY – February 13–14, 2026
The Berea College men's track and field team turned in a strong all-around performance at the Centre Indoor Invitational & Multis, highlighted by relay victories and multiple scoring efforts across track and field events.
On the track, freshman Thomas Vaughn led Berea in the sprints, placing 17th overall in the 60 meters (7.24) and 13th in the 200 meters (23.67). Sophomore Dustan Webb added solid sprint performances in both the 60m (7.42) and 200m (24.55). In the 400 meters, junior Gloire Muzeba delivered a standout performance, finishing 4th overall in 51.42 and scoring 5 points for the Mountaineers followed by freshman Jackson Gunter and senior Robert Russell.
In middle-distance competition, junior Austin Gatewood placed 14th in the 800 meters (2:07.19), while freshman Desire Itwitaho (2:20.84) also competed. Freshman Ian Taylor represented Berea in the mile, and sophomore Taiki Ogawa led the team in the 3000 meters. In the 5000 meters, sophomore Hasel Perez-Garcia placed 8th overall, earning a point for Berea.
The Mountaineers excelled in relay events. Berea's 4x200 relay team of Dustan Webb, Thomas Vaughn, Gloire Muzeba, and Teancum Palmer claimed 1st place with a time of 1:33.53, earning 10 team points and adding their name to the Bere College record books. The 4x400 relay team of Jackson Gunter, Austin Gatewood, Arphaxad Nyabuto, and Gloire Muzeba finished 3rd in 3:32.98, adding 6 points . Berea's Distance Medley Relay squad of Desire Itwitaho, Arphaxad Nyabuto, Ian Taylor, and Taiki Ogawa placed 7th, contributing 5 additional points.
In the field events, freshman Leroy Freeman III led Berea in the long jump with a mark of 6.10m and placed 12th in the triple jump (11.95m). Freshman Teancum Palmer added marks of 5.85m in the long jump and 11.89m in the triple jump. In the pole vault, Jackson Gunter cleared 3.10m. Senior Joshua Patel led the throwers in the shot put (9.26m) and weight throw (8.66m), with additional contributions from Terrance Davison and Issac Chavez in the shot put.
