Berea softball opened their season on the road with a doubleheader against Asbury University on Saturday, February 21.

In game 1, the Mountaineers scored their first run of the season early, scoring in the top of the first inning when
Mia Lewis recorded an RBI to bring in
Jessyca Searcy for a 1–0 lead. The game remained close through the first few innings until Asbury tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. Asbury then broke the game open in the fifth inning, scoring 10 runs to pull away, ultimately winning 11–1 over Berea in the season opener.
Game 2 began as a defensive battle, with both teams scoreless after the first inning. Asbury gained momentum in the second and third innings, adding runs in each frame, and extended its lead with three more runs in the fourth to go up 5–0. Berea would close the score in the fifth inning when
Mia Lewis delivered another RBI, allowing
Maya Meads to score the Mountaineers' lone run of the game. Despite the late effort, Berea dropped the second game 5–1.

Berea will travel to face Covenant College (GA) on February 27th  with game times set for 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
