BASEBALL WEEK 1 RECAP

Baseball Recap: Season Opens in Montgomery, Alabama

Baseball season is finally underway! The team opened the year on the road, traveling to Montgomery, Alabama, where they competed in three games over the weekend.


Game 1: Mountaineers vs. LaGrange College

The first matchup came against LaGrange College. The Mountaineers kept things close through the first five innings, trailing just 5–1, but LaGrange strung together several hits late and pulled away for an 11–1 victory in seven innings. Berea recorded four hits in the contest, with Michael Mauney, Giovanny Ortiz, Ty Palmgren, and Aiden Blaszkowski each collecting one.


Game 2: Mountaineers vs. Huntingdon College (Game 1)

The Mountaineers then faced former conference opponent Huntingdon College for the final two games of the trip. The opener of the series lasted seven innings and ended in a 12–0 loss. Berea managed two hits in the game, coming from Sebastian Roman and Corbin Thacker.


Game 3: Mountaineers vs. Huntingdon College (Game 2)

The second meeting followed a similar script, going eight innings and resulting in a 10–0 defeat. Ty Palmgren led the offense with two hits, while Landen Griffey added the third and final hit for the Mountaineers.


Up Next:

Berea will look to bounce back next weekend when the team travels to Brevard, North Carolina, for a three-game series.
