BASEBALL WEEK 5 RECAP

Baseball Recap: Mountaineers Compete in Series Against Centre College

Game 1: Centre 9, Berea 3

Berea opened the series against Centre College with a competitive game early on before the Colonels pulled away late. Centre scored first, but the Mountaineers responded in the middle innings to keep the game within reach. Berea's offense was led by Giovanny Ortiz, who finished with one hit and helped spark the lineup throughout the game. Peter Torbicki also had a productive day at the plate, recording two hits, including an RBI single that drove in a run for the Mountaineers. Zach Hudson contributed offensively as well, collecting a hit and scoring two runs, showing aggressive baserunning that helped generate scoring opportunities. On the mound, Berea pitchers battled through several tough innings. Despite Centre putting together multiple scoring frames later in the game, the Mountaineers showed resilience and continued to compete at the plate and defensively.
