Mountaineers Host Six Games During Busy Week
Berea College softball had a busy week at home, playing six games across three series against Grace Christian University, Sewanee, and Oberlin College. The Mountaineers fought hard and close but ultimately went 0–6 on the week. Despite the record, the team showcased strong individual performances and competitive moments throughout the stretch.
Game 1: Mountaineers vs. Grace Christian University (Game 1)
Berea opened the week with a doubleheader against Grace Christian University on Tuesday, March 10. In the first game, the Mountaineers fell 7–5. Berea held the game close through the first five innings and even trimmed the gap to one run heading into the seventh, but Grace Christian scored an insurance run to solidify their win. Candice Williams recorded eight strikeouts, while Maya Meads and Kenzie Howell each had two hits at the plate.
Game 2: Mountaineers vs. Grace Christian University (Game 2)
In the second game, Berea fell behind early and was unable to mount a comeback, losing 5–3. Meads finished this game with five strikeouts and two hits, while Mia Lewis drove in two RBIs.

Game 3: Mountaineers vs. Sewanee (Game 1)
The Mountaineers then hosted Sewanee on March 12 for another doubleheader. Sewanee won the first game 12–2, but Berea responded with a more competitive showing in the second game, falling 5–2. Williams recorded seven strikeouts, while Kelly Wiard and Jessyca Searcy each tallied two hits in the game.
Game 4: Mountaineers vs. Sewanee (Game 2)
In the second game against Sewanee, the Mountaineers put up a strong fight but could not overcome the early deficit, resulting in a 5–2 loss.
Game 5: Mountaineers vs. Oberlin College (Game 1)
Berea wrapped up the week on Sunday, March 15, with a doubleheader against Oberlin College. The Mountaineers lost the first game 5–3, with Maya Meads striking out three batters and Kelly Wiard driving in two RBIs. Mia Lewis continued her solid week by hitting an early home run.
Game 6: Mountaineers vs. Oberlin College (Game 2)
In the second game, Berea fell 10–8 in a high-scoring battle. The Mountaineers started strong with four runs in the first inning, but Oberlin responded with four runs of their own in the third inning. Berea attempted to respond with a Maya Meads home run, but Oberlin regained momentum, scoring five in the fourth to take control. Meads led the offense with three RBIs, two hits, and one run, while Jessyca Searcy scored two runs.

Berea returns to action on Tuesday, March 24, hosting Alice Lloyd College for a doubleheader at 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. The Mountaineers will then begin conference play on Saturday, March 28, when they host Franklin College for another doubleheader scheduled for 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
