Men's T&F Competes at Scots Invitational Maryville, TN – April 10–11, 2026
The Berea College men's track and field team delivered an impressive performance at the Scots Invitational, highlighted by multiple event wins and strong finishes across track and field.
Berea's top performances came in the distance and hurdles events. Sophomore Taiki Ogawa claimed 1st place in the 5000 meters (17:13.03), while senior Robert Russell secured another victory with a 1st-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (55.70).
The Mountaineers also excelled in relay competition, as the 4x400 relay team of Jackson Gunter, Robert Russell, Jaylin Drummer, and Austin Gatewood captured 1st place (3:32.47). In addition, junior Austin Gatewood posted a strong 3rd-place finish in the 400 meters (52.86).
Other notable performances included freshman Desire Itwitaho, who placed 4th in the 1500 meters (4:28.60), and freshman Nathaniel Mitchell, who earned 3rd place in the long jump (5.71m). Freshman Jackson Gunter also contributed with a 2nd-place finish in the 400 hurdles and 3rd place in the pole vault (3.35m).

The Mountaineers showcased strong performances across sprints, distance, relays, and field events at the Scots Invitational as the outdoor season continues.
