Mountaineers Compete in Series Against Hanover College
Game 1: Berea at Hanover College
The baseball team was back in action this past Sunday for a two-game series against Hanover College. The game remained tied at 0 through the first three innings. In the bottom of the fourth, Hanover rallied for 6 runs and added 2 more runs in the bottom of the fifth to take an 8-0 lead. The Mountaineers finally got on the board in the sixth, notching 2 runs, but could never gain any momentum. Hanover went on to win the game 8-2.
The Mountaineers collected 6 hits in the contest, led by Miguel Serra, who produced 2 hits. Other contributors with one hit apiece included Zach Hudson, Sebastian Roman, Corbin Thacker, and Michael Mauney. The starting pitcher for Berea was Aiden Blaszkowski, who threw 3.2 innings and allowed 6 runs. Lawrence Griffey came in for relief, delivering 4.1 innings while allowing 2 runs.
Game 2: Berea at Hanover College
The second game of the series followed a similar script. Hanover scored 1 run in the bottom of the first inning. The Mountaineers found some momentum in the top of the second inning, producing 3 runs to take the lead. However, Hanover responded in the fourth inning, pushing across 5 runs to take a 6-3 lead. From there, the game was never within reach for the Mountaineers, as Hanover added 10 more runs over the next three innings, securing a 16-6 victory.
The Mountaineers collected 11 hits in the game. Sebastian Roman led the way with 3 hits, while Peter Torbicki followed closely with 2.
