Mountaineers Compete in Emory Dooley Elite Meet

The Berea College men's track and field team traveled to Atlanta, GA, on April 4th to compete in the Emory Dooley Elite Meet. The Mountaineers faced a strong field and delivered impressive performances, highlighted by top-five finishes in distance and field events.

Event Highlights:

  • Men's 3000 Meters:
    Sophomore Taiki Ogawa placed 4th with a time of 9:25.63, showcasing his strength in distance running.

  • Men's Long Jump:
    Freshman Thomas Vaughn delivered a standout performance, securing 4th place with a jump of 6.67 meters.

  • Men's Javelin:
    Freshman Micha Woolridge placed 6th with a throw of 43.36 meters, marking a strong effort in the field events.

  • Men's Triple Jump:
    Freshman Leroy Freeman III recorded a 7th-place finish with a jump of 12.17 meters, contributing to Berea's field event success.

  • Men's 400 Meters:
    Freshman Jackson Gunter led the Mountaineers with a season-best performance in the event.

  • Men's 400 Hurdles:
    Junior Robert Russell posted the team's top finish in the 400 hurdles, further solidifying the Mountaineers' competitive edge.

Up Next:
Berea College will travel to Maryville, Tennessee, on April 10th-11th to compete at the Scots Invitational.
