Berea Volleyball Battles Through Three-Match Week

BEREA, Ky. — The Berea College women's volleyball team completed a three-match slate over the past week, falling at home to Alice Lloyd College before dropping a pair of road contests against Centre College and Sewanee.

Match 1: Alice Lloyd 3, Berea 0
Sept. 15 | Berea, KY

The Mountaineers opened the week at home on Tuesday night, falling 3–0 to Alice Lloyd College. Nashaliz Garcia paced the attack with nine kills, while Genesis Casillas and Sydney Makle-Bradley added eight kills apiece. Kiara Arzuaga directed the offense with a team-high 18 assists, and Camila Vargas Rivera anchored the defense with 22 digs. At the net, Alaya Scoggins and Makle-Bradley recorded five blocks each.

Match 2: Centre 3, Berea 1
Sept. 16 | Danville, KY

Berea traveled to Centre College for its second match of the week, falling in four sets (3–1). Garcia led the offense with seven kills, followed by Casillas with four and Sol Yashira Rodríguez Nazario with three. Arzuaga tallied six assists to go along with a team-high seven digs, while Vargas Rivera added four assists and six digs. Casillas recorded Berea's lone service ace of the match.

Match 3: Sewanee 3, Berea 0
Sept. 19 | Sewanee, TN

The Mountaineers closed out the week on Saturday against Sewanee, dropping a 3–0 decision on the road. Kamila Zelaya led Berea with six kills, while Casillas and Scoggins chipped in five each. Madison Spradling dished out a team-best nine assists, supported by Arzuaga with seven. Vargas Rivera spearheaded the defensive effort with 16 digs, while Garcia posted three blocks at the net.
