Tristan Petrey

Tristan Petrey, joined the Mountaineers for her first season as an Assistant Coach, prior to the 2024-25 season. Coaching the pole vault and men’s multi’s.

“All-American pole vaulters don’t grow on trees, but luckily he was right here in our backyard,” Thomas said. “He has a resume that has helped him learn that nothing is given and everything is earned in our sport. I am fully confident he will him our pole vaulters and men’s multi athletes reach greater heights this season.”

Prior to coaching at Berea College, Petrey has volunteered at Kaizen Pole Vault Club as a coach since 2024.

Petrey is a 2024 graduate of the University of the Cumberlands with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, where he was a four-year letter winner and competed his final two seasons under Bradley Sowder. For the Patriots, Petrey was a three-time NAIA All-American, a six-time Mid-South Conference Champion, and the school record holder in the indoor and outdoor pole vault.

Petrey was a member of the 2024 Indoor Mid-South Champions, 2024 Outdoor Mid-South Champions, 2024 Indoor NAIA National Champions, and the 2024 NAIA Outdoor National Champions for the Patriots.

Petrey is a native of Richmond, KY, and is a 2020 graduate of Madison Central.
