Ian Harris is the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator for the volleyball program. In the 2019 season, the Mountaineers had an incredible 10-win improvement from the previous season.  The volleyball team made the USA South conference tournament for the first time in school history and won their first ever tournament match.  48 new program records were also set in 2019.

He spent the past the 2017-2018 seasons coaching alongside his wife Ashley at Tennessee Wesleyan University.  He helped build the roster, coach the defense, and ran the strength and conditioning program, for the 2018 team that set over 40 program records.  Prior to TWU, Harris was the recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach for the Maryville College football program from 2012-2016.  During his time as recruiting coordinator at Maryville College, the team won three USA South Athletic Conference championships and was the winningest college football program in the state of Tennessee.  Harris coached 13 all-conference players during his five seasons and spearheaded a fundraiser to help out with Hurricane Harvey relief in Houston that raised nearly $5,000 in just a weeks’ time.  Prior to Maryville College, he worked as the director of player personnel for arena football teams: Green Bay Blizzard, Columbus Lions, and Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz.  Harris was the assistant to the recruiting coordinator for the football team at Marshall University during his time as an undergraduate from 2003-06.

Ian is married to Ashley Harris, who is the head volleyball coach.  They have a daughter named Poppy Austinn, who was born in April 2016.  He is the son to Gary and Robinn Harris.
