Box Score

A long trip and damp, dreary conditions were a not a great combination for the Berea College Mountaineers (2-7) today as they traveled to the Asheville, NC area for a match up with the #16 (USCAA Women's Soccer Coaches Poll) ranked Owls of Warren Wilson College (6-5).

The Mountaineers had barely had time to lace up their cleats when the Owls netted their first shot of the game just 1:28 in to the contest.  Three minutes later, BC was looking at a two goal deficit as the Owls scored again at the 4:20 mark; and the Owls kept the pressure on keeping the ball in the BC defensive zone most of the first half netting its third goal of the game at the 21:41 mark.  The Mountaineers had a great chance to score themselves as Stevie Reidley got past her defender and drilled it, only to see the ball saved by the Owl goal tender just a few minutes later.

The second half started much the same way as the first half with the Owls coming out firing away immediately and netting their second shot only 2:36 into the second stanza.  From that point, Berea pressed as hard as they could but the Owls pulled their defense back and cleared every BC scoring opportunity.

The Mountaineers will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Kentucky Christian College at 5:00 pm at the Berea College Soccer Complex.
