KCU Sweeps Volleyball on Senior Day

Box Score

Kentucky Christian University is heading next week to the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) National Championships; and they appear to be more than ready after cruising past the Mountaineers on Senior Day.

Prior to the match lone senior player, Kaitlynne Smith and student-assistant coach Tommy Risk where honored with mementos and gifts.  Sadly the day would be bitter sweet for them, as the Blue Crew struggled in nearly all elements of the game in the first set, falling 25-12.

BC showed a little life in the second set before KCU ran off a string of nine points to secure the 25-21 win.  It was another late run in the third set that sealed the sweep for the Crusaders as they took the set 25-18.

For Berea, Taylor Ashworth led the way offensively with eight kills while adding three services aces.  Sydney Short recorded 10 digs to lead the way for the defense.

The Mountaineers end the season 15-14.  This marks the first time that the volleyball progam has recorded consecutive winning seasons.
