Former KIAC Rival too much offensively for Mountaineers.
From the first missed serve, which barely reached the net; nothing seemed to go right for the Mountaineers (5-6) in their battle with former KIAC rival Asbury University (11-6). Berea was swept in three straight sets 25-19, 25-17, 25-11. Offensively the Blue Crew was lead by the trio of Taylor Ashworth (SO/Cincinnati, OH), Kyra Robinson (JR/Owensboro, KY) and Simone Brown (SO/Monee, IL) who each finished with six kills and whose combined 18 kills represented nearly all of the team's offensive output for the night.
Defensively, it was a pair freshman leading the way as libero Sydney Short (FR/Lexington, KY) and setter Claire Mueller (FR/Colorado Spring, CO) picked up 14 and 10 shots each. Simone Brown also stopped five balls at the net including four block solos.
The Mountaineers will host a tri-match this weekend featuring NCCAA - Johnson University and NCAA Division II/NCCAA - Oakland City University. Match times are at 1:00 and 5:00 pm respectively.
