Box Score Berea, KY – The Berea College men's soccer took on NCAA Division III Franklin College Grizzlies at home. In a thrilling double overtime match the Mountaineers and Grizzlies ended the game in a 3-3 tie. This game brought Berea to a 0-6-2 season record.
Franklin's offense came out ready to play and they got up 2-0 on the Mountaineers scoring goals in the 2nd and 23rd minute of the game. Berea's Wesley Saintilnord put the Mountaineers on the board with a goal at the 42 minute mark, Saintilnord was assisted by Dakota Massucco. At the end of the first half Berea headed to the locker room down 2-1 to the Grizzlies.
In the second half it was the Mountaineer's offense that came out with the momentum. First, Berea's Pedro Herrera scored in the 55th minute to tie the game 2-2. With just under three minutes left to play in the game Garrison Wagner was able to find the back of the net to give Berea a 3-2 lead. Franklin responded quickly and with 1:30 left to play they were able to tie the game 3-3. Both teams fought hard in overtime but neither was able to score and after the second OT the game ended in a 3-3 tie.
The Mountaineers stay home this weekend to take on USA South member Piedmont College on October 1st at 1:00pm.
