Box Score 2 Berea KY- Berea College hosted Asbury University in a doubleheader. The Mountaineers fought hard but dropped both games to the Eagles. These losses bring the Mountaineers overall record to 2-4.
Berea lost 8-4 to Asbury University in the first game of the doubleheader. The Mountaineers held the lead until the 5th inning where the Eagles tied up the game. In the 6th inning the Eagles scored 2 runs from a homerun to put them ahead of the Mountaineers, and they tacked on 2 more runs in the top of the 7th inning. The Mountaineers did not earn anymore runs losing the game 8-4. Parker had 3 hits to lead the Mountaineers followed by Nash who had 2 including a homerun. Howard took the loss in the circle.
In the second game of the night, the Mountaineers fell to the Eagles 6-2. The Eagles took a strong lead scoring all 6 of their runs by the 3rd inning. The Mountaineers scored 2 runs but could not close the gap leading to the Eagles win. Hackney and Shivel lead the Mountaineers in hitting with 3 hits each. Baker started out pitching for the Mountaineers followed by Howard coming in the 3rd inning.
The Mountaineers will be back in action on Saturday February 24th at Franklin College with the first pitched schedule for 1:00pm.
