The Berea College Mountaineers travelled to Brevard, NC to take on conference-rival Brevard College in a tennis match.
In doubles, The Mountaineers lost two matches and won one by forfeit. #1 doubles, Dakota Massucco and Michael Malpartida lost their match 8-2 to the pair of Tom Mittring and Tim Hengst. #2 doubles, Chris Malpartida and Juan Chavez-Casiano lost their match 8-2 to Andrew Ingram and Tyler Frazee. #3 doubles James Weaver and Sam Slater won their match due to Brevard College not being able to field a 3rd doubles team.
In singles, the Mountaineers lost all of their matches except one due to forfeiture, but two matches went into a third tiebreaker set. #4 singles Sam Slater lost to Nathan Boepple in a very tight match which had to go into a tiebreaker set, 3-6, 7-6, 5-10. #5 singles James Weaver also had a very tight match with his opponent Andrew Ingram, also losing in a tiebreaker set, 7-6, 2-6, 6-10. #6 singles Juan Chavez-Casiano won his match due to forfeiture.
The Mountaineers will be back in action Saturday April 6th at home against LaGrange College in the Wilson Evans Tennis Complex, which will kick-off the Division III week cookout and celebration.
