Berea, KY – Sophomore
Destiny Combs (Louisville, KY) notched a double-double and the Berea College women's basketball team topped conference foe Huntingdon College 56-46 on Sunday afternoon.
The Mountaineer defensive pressure was on display throughout the first half as they held the Hawks to just 13 points on 4-23 shooting. Despite their own slow offensive start, Berea led 26-13 at the break. While both teams shot better in the second half, Berea was able to withstand each run by the Hawks, never allowing the game to get any closer than seven points.
Combs played huge on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor, posting team-high totals in points (15) and rebounds (19). The output was her second double-double of the week. Sophomore
Aaliyah Hampton (Hopkinsville, KY) also scored in double figures with 12 points, and senior
Bailee Vanover (Richmond, KY) tallied 11 points and five rebounds.
The Mountaineers (4-0, 2-0 USA-S) will take on the University of the South on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 PM in the Seabury Center.
