Berea, KY – Three Mountaineers notched double-figures as the men's basketball team defeated Boyce College 81-72 Tuesday night in the Seabury Center.
Berea built a 13-point lead 10 minutes into the game and led by seven at the half. The Bulldogs started the second half on a 15-6 run, grabbing just their second lead of the game at 47-46. But sophomore
Quae Charlton (Richmond, KY) took the game into his own hands, scoring 10 straight points for Berea, giving the Mountaineers a lead they held for the rest of the game.
Charlton finished the night with 18 points, six rebounds and four steals. Fellow sophomore
Kevion Hudson (Louisville, KY) led the Mountaineers with 19 points and freshman
Trey Minter chipped in 18 points. Junior
Isaac Caudill (Blackley, KY) was a workhorse on both ends of the floor, netting nine points on 3-4 shooting, to go along with a team-high nine rebounds and six assists.
For the game Berea shot 53% from the floor despite only making four of 18 three-point attempts. The Mountaineers forced 19 turnovers which they converted into 20 points. Berea also held a 24-8 advantage on fast-break points.
Berea is now 3-3 on the season and will return to the hardwood on Monday night when they travel to Harrodsburg for a rematch with Campbellsville-Harrodsburg. The Pioneers defeated the Mountaineers 94-82 last Saturday in the Seabury Center. Monday's game is scheduled to tip at 7:00 PM.
