BEREA, KY. - Berea women's soccer team hosted their second home game of the season against the Piedmont College Lions, which the team also marked as their Senior Day game to recognize the seniors on the team during pre-game. The Mountaineers were unable to take home a victory and are still on their quest to win their first game of the season.
The Lions started the game strong, scoring 3 goals in the first 25 minutes of the game. The Lions were able to stay dominant, holding possession of the ball and limiting the Mountaineers 0 shots, 0 shots on goal. Kaylee King was able to score in the 6
th and 24
th minute. Gabbie Hayes was able to score in the 6
th minute of the game, assisted by Sarah Fisher, and Fisher was then able to score a goal for herself in the 44
th minute assisted by Emma Williams.
Mountaineers again struggled in the 2
nd half, with the Lions holding majority of the ball and again not being able to record a shot against the Lions. The Lions were again able to score 3 more times, Katelyn Smith in the 50
th and 68
th minute and a goal by Gabbie Hayes in the 51
st minute.
The Lions fired off 13 shots, 11 on goal and were able get awarded with 11 corner kicks. The Mountaineers were able to record 4 saves.
Up next, the Mountaineers will go back on the road against Maryville College on March 13
th. Kick-off is set at 2:00 PM.
