The Mountaineers were able to split their home soccer tournament this past weekend against Johnson University and Blackburn College. The Mountaineers were almost able to comeback from a 4-0 deficit against the Johnson University Royals, eventually losing in the game 4-3. However, the Mountaineers were able to come back and get their season back on track by thumping the Blackburn College Beavers 10-0 in rainy conditions.
The Mountaineers against Johnson University started the game really slow, allowing 4 goals in the first 35 minutes in the game. However, in the 2
nd half, the Mountaineers gave it all they had, scoring in the 54
th minute (Alanis Dauherty), 81
st minute (
Naomi Scott), and the 83
rd minute (
Bailee Vanover).
Gabrielle Scott was able to register 2 assists in the game.
The Mountaineers were able to get their season back on track with a 10-0 demolishing of the Blackburn College Beavers. 7 different Mountaineers were able to score goals and the Mountaineers defense was able to limit the Beavers to 0 shots on goal. The dominant performance by the Mountaineers were able to register the biggest win of the program's history against a NCAA Division III opponent.
