The Mountaineers were unable to start the 2021-2022 season with a win, losing to the Spalding University Eagles. The Eagles were able to get to a quick start, scoring all 4 goals in the 1^st half, the first two in the first 10 minutes.
 
The Mountaineers were able to turn the game around in the 2^nd half, scoring a goal in the 46^th minute by junior forward Bailee Vanover. However, that was the last time the Mountaineers would see the scoresheet and ultimately lost the game 4-1.
 
The Mountaineers were able to register 18 shots, 11 on goal as well as register 6 saves.
