The Berea College volleyball team competed in a USA South conference tri match against Huntingdon College and Brevard College at Brevard, NC. The Mountaineers started the day off with a 5-set win against Huntingdon College (4-10) and a straight set sweep against Brevard College (2-11).

In the first match for Berea, the Mountaineers beat Huntingdon on 5 sets: 23-25, 25-8, 22-25, 25-23 and 16-14, with Eagles putting up the fight in the last set trying to close in on a win. Sophomore
Julie Santana lead the team with 21 kills and 3 blocks along with Senior
Carolina Robles who had 20 kills. Freshman
Idymel Ayala Rivera led the team adding 28 assists and Senior Fabiana De Jesus added 27 digs to the Mountaineers defense.

On the second match for Berea against Brevard College, the Mountaineers were able to get their first win in straight sets:Â 25-22, 25-17 and 25-23. The match was led by Sophomore Deanna De la Torre with 14 kills and 13 digs, Freshman
Idymel Ayala Rivera with 19 assists and Senior Fabiana De Jesus with 15 digs.

The volleyball will host their third conference game against Maryville this upcoming Tuesday, September 28. The game is scheduled to start at 7 pm.
