Defense was the name of the first game as neither side was able to score a run for the first three and a half innings. The Mountaineers opened the scoring in the contest as with freshman

Jayden Junta hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Manrique to give Berea a 1-0 advantage.
The Hawks applied pressure to the Mountaineers as an RBI double and RBI single put Huntingdon out in front 2-1 in the top of the sixth. With his team down, Junta once again came through as he tied the contest with an RBI double to bring Manrique across home plate for the second time in the match. Freshman
Nick McLaughlin replaced Junta as a pinch-runner on second base when freshman
Ricardo Serra stepped up and hit a single to right field, scoring McLaughlin from second base to give Berea a 3-2 lead that they would hold onto.
Junta earned the win on the mound for Berea as he pitched six innings, only allowing six hits, and striking out two batters. Freshman Derrick Hay recorded a save on the afternoon, checking into the final inning of play and striking out a batter.
The Berea College baseball team will be back in action as they take a step out of USA South Athletic Conference play to host Mount Saint Joseph on Wednesday at the Berea College Athletics Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
