LEESBURG, Fla. – The Berea College softball team lost their first game in The Spring Games, falling to John Carroll University 14-4 on Sunday morning.
The Mountaineers started off behind giving up 2 runs in the first inning to the Blue Streaks. Senior
Ashley Spencer tied the game with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. Within the next couple of innings, John Carroll stretched their lead to 7-2 in the third inning.
Freshman
Madison McIntosh started the fourth inning with a stand-up double followed up by another double from junior
Aubrey Sowders. Freshman
Madison Yates also recorded a double to bring Sowders across home plate bringing to pull the contest to a 7-4 affair. However, the Mountaineer's offense went silent after the fourth inning, only being able to record a sixth-inning single from senior
Savannah Fallis as the Mountaineers went on to surrender seven runs.
The Mountaineers are back in action tomorrow March 7
th against Thomas College at 1:30 p.m. and D'Youville College at 4 p.m.
