LOUISVILLE, Ky. -The Mountaineers started their season on the road traveling to Spalding University; unfortunately, they were unable to secure the win, falling 5-0 against the Eagles.
Spalding began the first half strong, scoring a goal in the 4th minute. The Eagles kept the pressure on expanding their lead of 3-0 going into halftime. In the second half, the Mountaineers continued to struggle as Spalding put up two more goals as Berea eventually fell 5-0.
The Mountaineers had a sluggish night with only six shots in the entire game compared to Spalding's 24. The Mountaineers registered 11 saves, one corner kick, and 11 fouls.
The Berea College women's soccer team get the chance to play their first game at home against Oakland City University on Saturday, September 3rd, at 2:00 pm.
