Lookout Mountain, Ga.- On Tuesday, the Mountaineers faced the Covenant College Scots for their first Collegiate Conference of the South conference match.
 
The Mountaineers started off strong the first set with a 7-point lead over the Scots. The Scots were able to fight back, and the set became a back-to back battle that the Mountaineers lost (26-28).
 
Set 2 was a back-to-back battle as well until the Scots were able to take a lead and finish the set (18-25)
 
The Berea Mountaineers did not give up and after being down by 9 points, the Mountaineers were able to come back and tie the set 22-22 and earned the win (27-25).  Ultimately, the Mountaineers were not able to get through the Scot's defense as they had 15 blocks, compared to 6 by the Mountaineers and lost the final set (22-25)
 
The Mountaineer were led by Deanna De La Torre with 14 kills, followed by Brenda Davila with 12 kills. Anneliz Cora and Fabiana De Jesús tallied 20 digs each and Idymel Ayala Rivera added 45 assists to help the Mountaineers offense.
 
The Berea College Volleyball Team will be back in action this Saturday, September 24 as they will host there first conference tri-match facing Wesleyan College at 12:00 p.m. and La Grange College at 4:00 p.m.
