Lookout Mountain, Ga. – The Berea College men's basketball team scored 44 second-half points to defeat the Covenant College Scots 74-71 on Wednesday night.
The win pushes the Mountaineers to 9-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Sophomore guard
Trey Minter led the Mountaineers with 20 points, four assists, and three rebounds. In tonight's win, Minter eclipsed 1,000 points in his career with a three-pointer late in the first half. Senior guard

Jarel Montgomery recorded 10 points and eight rebounds.
Berea had a rough start to the night and ended up losing the first half to the Scots (30-36.) While the Mountaineers shot well from the field (13-30 overall), they struggled from beyond the arc hitting just three of their 11 attempts. Even with the shots not falling from three, Berea stay within striking distance.
The contest came down to the wire as tied 63-63 with 4:56 left. After the Scots took the lead with a pair of free throws, Minter earned a trip to the line where he split a pair of free throws and Berea trailed 65-64 with 3:33 remaining. Minter gave Berea the lead with a layup with 2:38 on the clock. Coming out of a timeout, Caudill finished a layup to gibe Berea a three-point lead. The Mountaineers survived a late push to come away with a 74-71.
The Berea College men's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, hosting Huntingdon College for a CCS contest. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m.
