Berea, KY - In a challenging match that kept fans on the edge of their seats, the Berea College men's basketball team faced a tough loss against Belhaven at home this Sunday.
At the half, Berea maintained a narrow lead of 34-36, led by
Demetris Phillips and
Bryce Riley, who propelled the team's lead to 34-44. However, with 11:43 remaining, Belhaven's Jermario Hersey's pivotal 3-pointer tied the score at 49-49, marking the turning point in the game. Belhaven's strategic play and ability to capitalize on turnovers proved crucial, allowing them to outscore Berea with 13 points to Berea's 8 through turnovers. Belhaven's bench played a significant role in the team's success, contributing more than half of their total points, providing 51 of the team's 77 points in the game.
Bryce Riley's standout performance for Berea included an impressive 24 points and 6 rebounds, while
Ja'Rel Montgomery also made a strong impact with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Additionally,
Trey Minter made his mark by contributing 11 points during the game.
