GREENCASTLE, IN- Berea falls in the first round of the NCAA tournament to DePauw University by a score of 52-74.
The Mountaineers faced tough competition this game as they started out down 9-15 in the first quarter. After Atiya Moss tied the score at the three-point line with nine minutes left, the teams would battle back and forth until
DePauw would take advantage of miss scoring opportunities, outscoring Berea 6-2 in the final two minutes. Berea would continue to struggle until four minutes into the second quarter when Moss would hit a pull up jumper.
Kayla McClendon would flash her scoring prowess, scoring on two three-point attempts and a layup within two minutes. The score heading into half would then be 26-34, with Berea being down by 8. DePauw seemed to not ever let up, as they would extend their lead to 16 by the end of the third despite Berea's efforts.
The Mountaineers would end the night shooting 19-59, 4-19 three pointers. There were 12 points scored off turnovers, 28 points scored in the paint and 9 turnovers.
Jayden Merriweather secured 2 blocks, 2 steals and 2 rebounds for the team.
LynKaylah James lead in rebounds (7) and lead in points scored (14). Kaylah McClendon and
Drea Satori both tied for 11 points in the game.
