Senior Send-off at Landon Bond Classic

BEREA, KY- Berea celebrate seniors one last time in front of the home crowd.

To start in the field, senior Caleb Wilson took a massive PR into the bronze medal position with a jump of 13.27m. Wilson and fellow senior Larry Branch take 4th and 7th in men's lump with performances of 6.54m and 6.47m. Sophomore, Robert Russell placed 5th overall with a new personal best of (6.51m). For the women's horizontal jumps, Ashyia Maddickes (5.08m), Jakeisha Lewis (5.04m), and Jerneisha Lewis (4.99m) all place top ten in the women's long jump. With a new personal record in long jump, Jakeisha Lewis also placed second an hour later in the women's triple jump with a jump of 10.40m. In the vertical jumps, Ashyia Maddickes cleared a final height of (1.50m) in high jump. Quinncey Gibson cleared a final height of (1.70m) in the men's high jump just missing a clearance of (1.75m). Behind her was Lindey Fleming with a final height of (1.35m). The Mountaineers add faces to the pole vault discipline with Angel Patterson clearing a final height of (2.30m) and Dillon Gregg tying this mark in the men's pole vault.

Down in the throwing valley, seniors Elise Kemp and Kyonna Ross both threw respectable marks of (25.14m) and (23.98m) in the discuss. However, freshman Makayla Wilson out threw her teammates on the day with a final throw distance of (26.00m). Kemp placed 12th in the women's shot put and 9th in the hammer throw. Fellow 4th year Alyssa Bell threw a fantastic mark of (26.97m) to take third in the javelin. A bright spot in the men's throws as DeMarcus Smith opened his day with a (45.32m) throw in the men's javelin to capture fourth overall.

Kymiah Blair blazed to a second-place finish in the 100m (12.33) and cruised to a first place in the 200m (24.88). In the 200m Ashyia Maddickes(27.03) and Jerneisha Lewis (27.24) finished behind Blair. For the men, Christoff Mendy continues to find his stride and placed 6th with a time of (23.15). JC Ozor (52.62) fought for 9th in the 400m. 800m specialist Kristin Fischli and Liberte Mack tried their hands at the open 400m and ended up with 7th and 8th place with times of (1:01.70) and (1:02.07). Silas Fair returns to the track to easily run a (1:55.77) 800m, which currently leads the collegiate conference of the south. Muhorakeye Joyeuse placed first in the women's 800m as well with a nice time of (2:25.52) and 5th place in the 1500m (4:56.41). Madison Stonestreet captured second in the 1500m (4:50.02). Senior Robert Immell fought hard for 5th place in the men's 1500m. With a time of (17.92), Jerneisha Lewis takes 7th in the 100m hurdles. In the 400mh her sister Jakeisha Lewis took third with a time of (1:11.13). For the men, Robert Russell takes second overall with a season's best of (57.04) seconds and Quinncey Gibson ran a season's best of (1:00.19).

After such amazing performances, Berea will look to recapture this effort next week when they travel to the Centre Twilight meet in Danville, KY.
