MEN'S SOCCER WEEK 8 RECAP

Game 1: Berea Falls to Mount St. Joseph 1–0
The Mountaineers began Week 8 at home on October 22, suffering a close 1–0 loss to Mount St. Joseph University at the Berea Sports Complex. After a competitive first half, the Lions scored the match's lone goal in the 79th minute when Brady Diedenhofer headed in a free kick from Nathaniel Knuth. Berea produced 18 total shots with seven on target but couldn't break through against goalkeeper Carson Sabers. Tobore Takpor led the attack with four shots on goal, while Eris Acosta made six saves to keep the Mountaineers in contention. Berea's defense stayed disciplined despite multiple cautions in a physical HCAC battle.

Game 2: Takpor's Double Secures 2–0 Win at Franklin
Berea closed the week on a high note with a 2–0 victory at Franklin College on October 25, earning its first conference win of the season. Tobore Takpor scored both goals in the second half—striking first in the 58th minute off a setup from Tomas Gonzaga and adding another in the 84th minute assisted by Ombeni Shandera. The Mountaineers controlled play with 20 shots and eight on goal, while goalkeeper Eris Acosta earned a clean sheet with seven saves. Berea's back line, led by Glorie Muzeba and Peter Mensah, limited Franklin's chances to preserve the shutout.

The Mountaineers next travel to Richmond, Indiana, to face Earlham College on Wednesday, October 29, at 3:30 p.m. in another HCAC matchup.
